As part of the course:
High Performance Computing for Advanced Physical Analysis (Prof. Ivan Marri and Prof. Marco Govoni)
Dr. Elisabetta Boella (E4 Computer Engineering)
will hold a seminar on
HPC Carpentry
In this lecture, we will go through some key concepts in High Performance Computing (HPC). We will revise the motivation for HPC and parallel computing. We will outline the main differences between a supercomputer and a computer. We will discuss novel emerging architectures in HPC, why they are necessary and the challenges that they pose. Basics on HPC job scheduling and application compiling, debugging and profiling will be introduced.
