From medical devices to surfboards design: CFD for research and consulting
OpenFOAM has become over the years a powerful CFD suite capable of the modeling and simulation of virtually any kind of fluid flow. In this talk, a quick introduction to CFD will be given along with some examples from the RED portfolio, from the analysis of medical devices to surfboards design, aiming to share our experience with OpenFOAM and highlight the possibilities and limitations in performing state of the art CFD simulations with open-source software.
Riccardo Rossi is the Head and Founder of RED Fluid Dynamics. He holds a MSc in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Computational Thermo-Fluid Dynamics from the University of Bologna and he is author and co-author of more than 50 papers in Computational Fluid Dynamics. Before moving to consulting, he has been the head and founder of the Computational Fluid Dynamics Laboratory of the University of Bologna and Visiting Scholar at the Center for Turbulence Research at Stanford University.
